The main reason I finished watching the series as soon as possible is because I want to catch up with the second season, where Charice will be making a scene. Nonetheless, I’ve been listening to and liking the cast’s renditions beforehand, especially the mash-ups. I no longer remember how I got to them though…

Overall, the series is a yes for me, with the nifty editing and random characters in place. Maybe I only lacked the proper resources but, the last one that I spent some attention to was, if I remember correctly, Charmed. (Restrain your laugh.) Heroes, Gossip Girl, those are? (Although I occasionally catch myself peeking into some sensual scenes of the latter.)

A while ago I came by the office where I was a trainee for the last three weeks. On my way, I wasn’t able to control my nervousness. But when I stepped out of the elevator, there was definitely no turning back. The receptionist gave me way and asked, “You’re that trainee, right?” I don’t know; yet sometimes, I just feel like getting close to people only when I’m already on the verge of “leaving” them.

My talk with the HR employee was so comforting that I could’ve talked to her for the rest of the day. The sad part? I was talking about not getting hired. Upon hearing a word from my fourth language, she gladly told me that it’s okay if we converse with it. Funny how the receptionist added, “I’ll just go out, so that you two could talk. I bully him, y’know.” It would’ve been nice, actually, but I think it just won’t work out in the end. Sayang… I never went out with them.

Feedback from friends, positively spoken and written (statuses), kept me wondering what the movie really was all about. I never set my eyes on it because the trailer didn’t intrigue nor enlighten me as a layman. But as it turns out, it’s way more nerve-wracking than you can think of.

After seeing a pseudocode post from my adviser and visiting the big screen, I knew I just had to make my own — a recursive one. To experience euphoria, I dug an implementation. What the program does is very simple. It asks for the levels of dream you wish to experience, and then prints out the time spent on each level. You’ll see…

Inception.java

void dream(int level) {
   if(level <= 0) {
      return;
   }

   try {
      System.out.print("Level " + level + ": ");
      long startTime = System.currentTimeMillis();
      Thread.sleep(1000*level);
      long endTime = System.currentTimeMillis();
      System.out.println((endTime-startTime) + " ms");
   } catch(InterruptedException ie) {
   }

   dream(level-1);
}

In my first week back in the metro I fortunately got a call that led me to Makati, the city that nests the buildings that’ll crumble by 2012. The early worm that I caught was cut off because the trains were not operating due to Basyang‘s visit. People were flooding the streets, and the bus felt like a train that almost stole my soul away… I landed on the 9th floor only to greet an empty front desk and a canceled interview.

I didn’t skip lunch at McDo (I know, everywhere else is expensive) with a classmate who’s working in one of the banks in the avenue. My feet were drained at the end of the day for foolishly walking ’round and ’round trying to become familiar with the place. Documents were troublesome in the rain that I awarded myself a sling bag to dispatch them.

The next day…I got lost. Apparently, I alighted a station away and even took notice of a wrong landmark. A jeepney saved me from being late for my legendary interview.

HR: So what do you know about the company?
Answer: You specialize on <this>, but you also do <that>. You’re based in <country>…
H: Huh? No.
A: Oops, checked the wrong website then.

In the given 45 minutes, I managed to write six flowcharts, after which, another interview followed. Subsequently, I dashed to the stock exchange building for another (company’s) exam. Results were given on the spot so it would’ve been heartbreaking if I failed after watching everyone pass. The exam made me appreciate how poor my vocabulary’s become. Later that afternoon, I once again roamed the place, only to arrive at the spot where I started. Wicked. Also, I entertained some of those girls who ambush you in underpasses and footbridges. Naturally, they were pleasing and cute that for a while I felt like some executive who could speak all the twang in the world.

G1: Hi! Nice shades — hindi ako nagbebenta! (I’m not selling!) What’s your name?
Me: (FTW takes off glasses) <insert name>
G: Hi <insert name>! We have this thing for ages 26 and above. How old are you?
M: 21.
G: Aw. I thought you were… Ang tangkad mo kasi! (Because you’re so tall!) Anyway, familiar with Earth Hour? Can you please support it each night?
M: Sure! What time?
G: Anytime.
M: Whole night?
M: (extends hand) And you are?
G: Rica.  Ang tangkad mo!

G2: …it’s for 26 and above, but you look 21.
M: I’m 22.
G: That’s okay. Familiar with Facebook, yes? Please add as up: UNICEF Philippines.
M: Sure~

It’s been exactly two months since I came home for the summer break. I hate to admit it, but it seemed a little too much already just to recover from all the stress induced by ITTC. I was always held back to attend this and that… On a positive note, a lot has happened.

I was a groomsman in my cousin’s, partnered the “wedding flower catcher” in my classmate’s, and broke the five years of being absent during the town fiesta. My mother’s classmates came over to visit but it was a shame there’s no particular tourist spot in our place. Right after, we headed to Bohol for me to get to know our relatives and attend the fiesta too. I daresay luck was with me as there was a balikbayan who treated everyone to a tour across the island; that means I finally got to see my long lost brother Tarsier, taste sweets, and feel a good view from the top! I didn’t get the chance to get wet though.

Cebu was the next drop because we attended the burial of a relative. It was ages when I first came to their place and there were no huge buildings blocking the way then. Her sons are both working abroad and I was pumped that one’s in Japan. I wanted to try conversing with him in Nihongo but it was just awkward. During our vigil I didn’t sleep and got to know two cousins in an IT course. Good looks undeniably runs in the family…

Click here to view the embedded video.

Just as the rumor said, the rotating brownout seemed to have diminished right after the elections. I usually wake up with no lights but there are also times when it occurs after lunchtime. Every time it strikes, I quickly rush to the piano and try becoming productive. This gave way to two new songs, both by Vanessa Carlton. They’re easy to play, but still bring forth good melodies. Check out the video, and see how I murdered a few keys and got out o’ sync in White Houses. For the record, I can now play three and a quarter pieces.

Hello goodbye. Finally, it’s over. I could go on talking forever regarding the past week, but nah, it might simply sadden me.

Last Sunday’s homily was a good hear that it made me sit up straight and eradicate all the result-of-poor-attention-span thoughts floating within the vicinity of my head. It cited how we, as humans, tend to find companions. True enough, the example was what happened to me when I woke up that day after burning the midnight oil. No one was home, so I was eager to find some place to find comfort, to eat, to rid the licking loneliness that desires to be sucked in. What aroused me most amidst the priest’s words was the example of going to the disco with the real intention of finding someone to be with…

Sleepless nights were relived as I and my team rumbled with overnight shifts finishing projects in our last week at school. It was such a wonderful thing one of us had her abode good for workplace. A company visit and employment exam the next day did not stop us. Amazing Race? Hell, yeah! I was eager to go out that day, but everyone seemed to have been drained early.

The second project demonstration surprisingly turned out good. What just annoyed me was the fact that it was our group that was chosen to present for the final presentation in the presence of the so-called indushtry folks. “Annoyed” could be read on my face on the day of the presentation that my group-mates had to tell me over and over to just get over it. It was crap, for the love! And it even took away my birthday from me! Dang. Thank God TriNoma’s Aveneto saved the day… But what the fuck! I walked Novaliches in a semi-formal attire under the fucking pouring rain! 22nd birthday? Never had the slightest feeling it happened.
